Solidarity in action. Advance reproductive justice. Strengthen health systems for comprehensive abortion care.
On International Safe Abortion Day, the Community Working Group on Health (CWGH) recognises the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s commitment to strengthening comprehensive abortion care through the development of the National Guidelines for Comprehensive Abortion Care.
For reproductive justice to be realised, women and girls must be able to access safe and legal abortion care within a health system that is equipped, accessible and responsive. This requires trained health workers, appropriate medicines and commodities, clear information and services that respect the dignity of those seeking care.
Strengthening health systems must go hand in hand with ensuring that the legal framework for safe abortion is understood and implemented. Guidelines, policies and legal provisions must translate into accessible, quality and safe and legal abortion care for those who need it.
Solidarity means working together to advance reproductive justice and strengthen health systems that uphold reproductive rights, protect dignity and leave no one behind.
